Is Namenda Right for You?

Find Out if Namenda Is Right for You

Different Alzheimer's medications are indicated for different stages of the disease. The Symptoms Assessment Tool below will guide you in determining which stage of Alzheimer's disease the person you are caring for may be in and whether he or she may be a good candidate for Namenda® (memantine HCl). Namenda is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease.

This tool is based on a scale called Functional Assessment Staging (FAST). The FAST tool, developed by Alzheimer's researcher Dr. Barry Reisberg, is a test used by physicians to determine the stage of Alzheimer's disease a patient might be in.

To use this tool:

  1. Review the symptoms in the lists that follow.
  2. Place a check next to the symptoms you feel apply to the person with Alzheimer's disease you are caring for
  3. When you are finished, click "Results" below to obtain an assessment of the Alzheimer's stage and whether Namenda may be a good choice.
